This neighborhood is recognized as one of Europe’s best-preserved wooden urban landscapes. Right across from the harbor lies the colorful Øvre Holmegate. With every building painted a different color, this street is the most vibrant expression of Stavanger’s creative spirit.

Stavanger Airport is located 11 km from the city center. This airport is Norway’s fourth busiest. Approximately four million passengers use this airport annually. Domestic flights from Stavanger Airport operate to Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, and Tromsø. Regular international flights depart from this airport to Copenhagen, Amsterdam, London, Gothenburg, and Frankfurt. SAS, Norwegian, Widerøe, KLM, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Wizz Air are the airlines with the most flights from this airport.

The fastest way to reach the city center from the airport is via the Flybussen Airport Express bus. This bus departs from the stop in front of the terminal building. The Flybussen Airport Express stops at Stavanger city center and major hotels along the route. Taxi stands are located outside the terminal. Stavanger Airport has a single terminal. Both domestic and international flights use the same terminal.

All check-in counters, the taxi stand, and the bus stop are located on the ground floor of the terminal. As soon as you enter the terminal, you will see the check-in counters. There are separate check-in areas for domestic and international passengers. The security checkpoint is on the upper floor.

After passing through security, you will reach the first floor. This floor has gates for both domestic and international flights. For flights within the Schengen area and domestic flights, you can proceed directly to a waiting area after security. For flights outside the Schengen area, you must go through passport control. The duty-free shop is open 24 hours a day.

The second floor is the arrivals hall. This floor has baggage claim carousels. After disembarking the plane and collecting your luggage, you exit through this floor. Here, you’ll find ATMs and the Avinor service center.

Stavanger Airport Car Rental

Car rental offices are not located inside the terminal building. All car rental companies are in the green building across from the terminal. Pick up your luggage, exit the arrivals hall, and proceed to the passageway in front of the parking lot. The car rental companies are located inside the building on the right. This building houses offices for Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, and Sixt. The walking distance between the terminal and the car rental center is 2–3 minutes.

After completing your rental procedures, you’ll pick up your car from the parking lot in the same building. Each company has its own designated parking area in the lot. Exploring Rogaland by car is a lot of fun. Public transportation is limited on some routes. Take the E39 from the airport to Stavanger city center. You’ll reach the city center in 15 minutes. From there, explore Gamle Stavanger and walk to Strandkaien for the Lysefjord ferry. Then head to Jørpeland to reach the Preikestolen trailhead. This drive takes about 45 minutes.

The hotel is literally right next to the terminal. Breakfast service begins at 5:00 AM. The hotel also features a sauna and a bar. Paid parking is available at P7, just a 2-minute walk from the hotel building.

Clarion Hotel Air is approximately a 10-minute walk from Stavanger Airport. The hotel also offers a paid shuttle service. It features parking, a restaurant, and a fitness center. This hotel is just 700 meters from the airport.

Quality Airport Hotel Stavanger is approximately 1 kilometer from Stavanger Airport. The hotel features 19 meeting rooms with a total capacity of 950 people. You can reach the hotel from the airport quickly via a free shuttle. This hotel is particularly popular among business travelers.
