Map of Edinburgh Airport (EDI)

The moment you set foot in Edinburgh, you will be instantly drawn into its history, rising up between the stone buildings. This city is like a living novel. When you climb up to Edinburgh Castle, which dominates the entire city from above, you will be impressed by both the view and the depth of Scottish history. Walking down from the castle, you’ll feel like you’re traveling through time, accompanied by street musicians and small shops. St Giles’ Cathedral enchants visitors with its Gothic architecture. If you want to see the city from above, climb Arthur’s Seat at sunset and feel the wind on your face. Edinburgh is one of those rare cities that offers peaceful moments with both its historical texture and friendly atmosphere.

Edinburgh Airport Map

Edinburgh Airport is located approximately 10 km from Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Edinburgh Airport is the sixth busiest airport in the United Kingdom. Approximately 15 million passengers use this airport annually. Edinburgh Airport is conveniently located near Scotland’s two most important motorways, the M8 and M9. This makes it easy to reach the airport from any part of the country. Compared to London’s crowded airports, Edinburgh Airport is much quieter.

The most popular means of transportation to reach the city is the tram. Edinburgh Trams operate non-stop from the terminal to Princes Street via a linear route. You can reach the city center in approximately 30-35 minutes. There are regular bus services from the airport to Edinburgh, Glasgow, North Lanarkshire, Stirling, and West Lothian. There are taxi ranks in front of the terminal. You can reach the city center in 15-20 minutes by taxi.

Edinburgh Airport Terminals

There is no need to rush between terminals at Edinburgh Airport. There is only one terminal at the airport. Both domestic and international flights operate from this terminal.

Both domestic and international arrivals are located on the ground floor. All check-in counters and the baggage claim area are also on the ground floor. Before security, there is a currency exchange office, baggage wrapping, baby care rooms, and cafes.

The first floor is used for departures. After passing through security, you will reach the departure gates via the duty-free area. The first floor has dining and shopping options such as Burger King, Wetherspoon, Starbucks, All Bar One, and The Gathering. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport. There are short- and long-term parking areas in front of the terminals. Security and passport control points can be crowded, especially during busy periods.

Edinburgh Airport Car Hire

If you want to explore Scotland’s famous Highlands roads and freely discover its castles, you can rent a car from Edinburgh Airport. You can reach Edinburgh city center in about 20 minutes by car. Stirling Castle is 45 minutes away from the airport. You can reach Loch Lomond in 1 hour and St Andrews in 1.5 hours by car. A trip to Scotland’s legendary northern regions, such as the Isle of Skye, takes 3-4 hours. The airport is very close to Scotland’s two main motorways, the M8 and M9. Therefore, once you leave the airport, you can easily reach any part of the country.

Car rental companies are not located inside the terminal at Edinburgh Airport. The car rental center is located in a separate building, a short walk from the terminal building. You can reach the car rental center by walking along the covered walkway next to the multi-story car park. The walking time is approximately 3 minutes.

Car rental companies such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, National, and Sixt operate at the car rental center. I recommend making your reservation online in advance. This way, you can get a price advantage and secure your vehicle choice. A driver’s license, passport, and credit card are required to rent a car.
