Huntsville International Airport (HSV) is located approximately 10 miles (16 km) southwest of the city of Huntsville, Alabama, United States. HSV covers an area of approximately 6,000 acres. The airport has two parallel runways. The main runway, which is 12,600 feet long, is one of the longest commercial runways in the southeastern United States.

Huntsville Airport has a single terminal building. The terminal serves major and regional airlines such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Breeze Airways, and Silver Airways with 12 gates. Huntsville Airport offers direct flights to major US hubs such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Denver, and Washington, D.C., as well as popular destinations such as Orlando and Las Vegas.

The airport is also an important cargo hub. The terminal features exhibits and artwork reflecting the region’s space and technology heritage.

Huntsville International Airport has a single terminal building where all passenger operations are conducted. This terminal consists of two main floors. The ground floor (first floor) houses check-in counters, baggage claim carousels, car rental offices, and arrivals services.

The second floor houses the security checkpoint (TSA checkpoint), 12 boarding gates, waiting lounges, and various dining and shopping venues. Departing passengers are directed to their flights from this floor. Free Wi-Fi access, digital flight information screens, ATMs, comfortable seating areas, and work stations for business travelers are available throughout the terminal.

Car parking at the airport

Huntsville Airport has a multi-story parking garage (Parking Deck) directly connected to the terminal building and more economical open parking areas.

Parking Deck (Multi-Story Parking): This is the closest parking area to the terminal building. It is ideal for both short-term and long-term parking. The first 30 minutes are free. The hourly rate is $2, and the maximum daily rate is $16.

Economy Lot: Located a short walk from the terminal building. A free shuttle service is available from the parking lot to the terminal. Hourly rate is $2, with a maximum daily rate of $10.

All parking areas have disabled parking spaces. Electric vehicle charging stations are also available in certain areas of the parking lot. Parking lots operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Advance reservations cannot be made. You can pay by credit card or cash at the parking lot exit.

Find transportation from the airport – bus, taxi, hotel shuttles

Bus: Huntsville Transit (Shuttle Park), the public transportation system for the city of Huntsville, does not offer direct bus service to the airport. Public transportation to the airport is limited.

Taxi & Rideshare: There are taxi stands in designated areas at the arrivals exit of the terminal building. In addition, ride-sharing apps such as Uber and Lyft are actively available at Huntsville Airport. You can call a vehicle through the apps and board your vehicle at designated pick-up points.

Hotel Shuttles: Many local hotels offer free airport shuttle service for their guests. You must contact your hotel in advance to take advantage of this service.

VIP Lounge at Huntsville Airport

Huntsville International Airport has a shared VIP lounge called “The Club at HSV” located after security. Passengers with various membership programs such as Priority Pass and LoungeKey, as well as premium class passengers of some airlines, can access this lounge before their flights. You can also use the lounge area by paying a daily pass fee.

The lounge offers free Wi-Fi, snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, comfortable seating areas, and work stations.

Lost & Found

Lost Items at the Airport: If you lose any items in the terminal building, parking lots, or security checkpoints, you can contact the Huntsville Airport Police Department (Airport Police) or Airport Operations. The Lost and Found Office is located on the first floor of the terminal, near the administrative offices. ATM at Huntsville Airport

There are ATMs belonging to various banks in the lobby area of the terminal building. These ATMs are available 24/7.

Smoking Areas

Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is strictly prohibited in all enclosed areas of the terminal building. Passengers who wish to smoke must exit the terminal building and use the designated outdoor smoking areas located a certain distance from the arrivals (lower level) and departures (upper level) exits. These areas are clearly marked and easy to find.

Restaurants at Huntsville International Airport

There are various dining options in both the pre-security and post-security areas of the Huntsville Airport terminal.
Four Paws Bar & Grill: This is a full-service restaurant and bar. Local specialties, sandwiches, salads, and beverages are served.

The Marketplace by Hudson: This is a market selling quick snacks, sandwiches, salads, and beverages.
Gevalia Kaffe: This café serves coffee, tea, pastries, and light snacks. Vending machines are available 24 hours a day at various locations throughout the terminal.

Shopping at Airport

There are various shopping options available in the airport terminal, especially in the post-security area.
Hudson News/Bookstore: Sells newspapers, magazines, books, snacks, beverages, travel supplies, and souvenirs.
The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art Store: Here you can find regional art, handicrafts, and Alabama-themed souvenirs.

Stars & Stripes / Tech on the Go: Sells electronic accessories, travel comfort products, and technology-focused souvenirs. There are ATMs inside the terminal, before and after security.

Hotels at Huntsville Airport

There are many hotels located very close to Huntsville Airport, many of which offer free airport shuttle service.
Four Points by Sheraton Huntsville Airport: This is the only hotel directly connected to the terminal building. You can walk to the hotel from the terminal.

Hampton Inn Huntsville/Village of Providence: Located approximately 7 miles (11 km) from the airport. It is in a popular area.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Huntsville Airport Madison: Approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) from the airport. Free shuttle service is available.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Huntsville Airport: Located 2 miles from the airport.

Best Western Plus Madison-Huntsville Hotel: Located a short drive from the airport.

When making your hotel reservation, you should confirm whether airport service is available, the reception hours, and any additional fees.

Car Rental at Airport

Car rental companies have offices on the ground floor of the terminal building at Huntsville Airport. The counters of major national car rental companies such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National are located directly opposite the baggage claim area. After completing the rental process at these offices, customers pick up their vehicles from the private parking area.

The offices are generally open seven days a week. Office hours vary depending on flight schedules at the airport. Car rental offices are usually open early in the morning.
