Kingston is not only the capital of Jamaica; it is also the capital of reggae and Rastafarian culture. This city has a unique energy, with clouds drifting down from the cool peaks of the Blue Mountains, the bustling crowds of shops squeezed between high rises, and the salty breeze from the harbor. In Kingston, you can feel the true pulse of Jamaica.

The Bob Marley Museum is located on Hope Road. It is a museum converted from the legendary home where Bob Marley lived from 1975 until his death. This museum is a must-visit for everyone coming to the island. Devon House is a Victorian-era mansion built in 1881 by George Stiebel, Jamaica’s first Black millionaire. The mansion is also famous for the I-Scream ice cream shop in its courtyard. The National Gallery of Jamaica is situated on the waterfront in downtown Kingston. This museum houses the most comprehensive art collections in the Caribbean.

At Emancipation Park, you’ll see people taking morning walks and locals exercising to the beat of music. Don’t leave without trying ackee and saltfish. This dish, made from boiled ackee fruit and salted cod, is Jamaica’s national dish.

American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, Spirit, Air Canada, British Airways, WestJet, Caribbean Airlines, Copa Airlines, Cayman Airways, and InterCaribbean Airways operate flights from Norman Manley International Airport. There are direct flights from Kingston to approximately 20 destinations. Flights from this airport include routes to New York JFK, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, Toronto, Panama City, Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, Georgetown, Providenciales, and London.

Norman Manley International Airport has one terminal. This terminal is used for both international and domestic flights. There are 14 gates inside the terminal. Gates 1-5 are located on the west side, and Gates 6–14 are on the east side.

Jamaica Urban Transit Company buses operate between the airport and the city center. Routes 98 and 98EX, which depart from the Parade Central bus stop, stop in front of the terminal building. The bus stop is on the main road in front of the terminal building, directly across from the arrivals exit. Taxi stands are located right in front of the terminal.

Norman Manley Airport Terminal

Norman Manley Airport has one terminal. The terminal building is two stories tall. The ground floor of the terminal is entirely dedicated to arrivals procedures. This floor houses passport control, baggage carousels, and customs. The upper floor of the terminal is used for departures procedures. Check-in counters, the security checkpoint, and gates are located on this floor.

After disembarking the plane, you will pass through the jet bridge to reach the passport control hall. After passing through passport control, you can collect your luggage. Once you’ve collected your luggage, you must proceed to the customs checkpoint. After clearing customs, you’ll arrive at the Ground Transportation Hall. Here, you’ll find car rental counters, transfer companies, ATMs, and a currency exchange office.

When you go up the stairs to the upper level, you’ll immediately see the check-in counters. After completing check-in and turning left, you’ll reach the security checkpoint. Once you pass security, walk toward the west side to reach the food court. The food court features restaurants and cafes serving Jamaican local cuisine. Duty-free shops and souvenir stores are also located in the area beyond security. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal.

Norman Manley Airport Car Rental

All car rental offices at Norman Manley Airport are located on the ground floor. All companies operate within the Ground Transportation Hall. You’ll see all these companies after passing through customs. Inside the terminal, car rental companies including Avis, Budget, Sixt, Island Car Rentals, Enterprise, Alamo, National, and Norbrook provide services.

The Sixt counter is located in the car rental lane of the arrivals hall, inside the Ground Transportation Hall. The Hertz counter is adjacent to the baggage claim area. The Alamo and Enterprise counters are located on the right side of the ‘Car Rental Aisle’ corridor after customs. You will complete your car rental procedures inside the terminal. After receiving your keys, you can pick up your vehicle from the parking lot. The parking lot is a 3-4 minute walk from the terminal. Car rental companies operate between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM. A passport, driver’s license, and credit card are required to rent a car.

If you plan to travel from Norman Manley Airport to the Blue Mountains or Port Royal, renting a car is essential. Not all city bus routes cover every destination. Port Royal is a 10-minute drive from the airport. While there, visit Fort Charles and Giddy House. Then return to the city to explore the Bob Marley Museum and Devon House. You can reach Blue Mountains National Park from the city center in 45 minutes.

Norman Manley Airport VIP Lounge

There is one VIP Lounge at Norman Manley Airport. The Club Kingston Lounge serves both the arrivals and departures areas.

To reach the Club Kingston Departure Lounge, go to the departures hall on the upper level after passing through security. Walk westward and pass the food court. Take the elevator or escalator down to the Mezzanine Level. The Club Kingston Lounge is located right next to Gate 8. It is open from 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM. However, lounge operating hours may vary depending on the flight schedule.

Inside the lounge, you’ll find a buffet with snacks and drinks, a private bar, Wi-Fi, a conference room, and phone and fax services. You can also purchase a fast-track service if you wish.

The Club Kingston Arrivals Lounge is located on the ground floor in the Arrivals Hall. You can access this lounge immediately after disembarking the plane and completing passport and customs checks.
