You can use I-275 and Veterans Expressway to get to the airport from the city center. The journey from the city center to the airport takes 15-120 minutes. You can reach the city center by buses departing from the airport. HART and Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus lines run regular services between the airport and the city center. Both bus lines depart from the stop at the Rental Car Center. You can also take a taxi to the city center. There are taxi stands outside the terminal.
Tampa Airport has one terminal. There are four concourses in the terminal. The airport has both open and covered parking areas.

Tampa Airport Terminal
There is one terminal at Tampa Airport. There are four concourses in the terminal: Concourse A, Concourse C, Concourse E, Concourse F. You can reach each concourse via a separate monorail line. Security checks are also carried out at the entrance to each concourse, not in the main terminal. The terminal building has three floors.
Concourse A is located in the southeast corner of the terminal. Gates 1, 3-12, and 14-18 are located here. JetBlue, Spirit, and United Airlines operate their flights from here. Restaurant and shopping options are more limited compared to other concourses.
Concourse C is used by Breeze Airways and Southwest Airlines. There are 16 gates here. There is a pet-friendly rest area after security.
Concourse E is the main hub for Delta Air Lines. There are 13 gates here. Most of Delta’s domestic and international flights depart from here. Inside the terminal, there is a Delta Sky Club Lounge, various dining options, and spacious waiting areas.
Concourse F is the main hub for American Airlines. It is also the area for international flights at Tampa Airport. Air Canada, Copa Airlines, and European airlines operate their flights from here.
The airport’s free Wi-Fi service and charging stations make life much easier for tech-savvy travelers. The terminal offers amenities and services such as restaurants, cafes, shops, baby care rooms, and ATMs.
Tampa Airport Car Rental
If you want to explore Florida’s endless beaches and hidden coves, you should start your trip in Tampa by renting a car. By renting a car at the airport, you can easily reach the most beautiful spots in Florida. Clearwater Beach is about 35-40 minutes away. You can reach St. Pete Pier in 20 minutes from the airport. If you are an adventure seeker, you can also drive to the Disney World and Universal Studios theme parks in Orlando, which are about a 1.5-hour drive away.
Renting a car at Tampa Airport is quite easy because all the major companies operate in the same place. Car rental companies are located in the Rental Car Center next to the Economy Parking Garage on the south side of the main terminal. To reach the car rental center, you must take the free SkyConnect train. The train runs every two minutes. The offices of Hertz, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, National, Alamo, Dollar, Payless, and NextCar are all in the same place. You can rent your car immediately upon arriving at the terminal. All you need to rent a car is your passport, driver’s license, and credit card.
Don’t forget to note any damage when you pick up the car. If you want to rent a car at a better price, you can make your reservation weeks before your trip. That way, you can also choose the car model you want.
Tampa Airport VIP Lounge
If you are looking for some peace and comfort after a long flight and before departure, you can wait for your flight in the VIP lounge areas at Tampa Airport.
Delta Sky Club is located in Concourse E. This VIP Lounge is the largest lounge area in the terminal. It is located near E68. Delta premium cabin passengers, SkyTeam Elite Plus members, and Delta SkyMiles American Express Reserve cardholders can access this lounge area free of charge. It offers comfortable seating, hot meals, local beverages, and a work area.
American Airlines Admirals Club is located in Concourse F, right next to Gate 85. Opening hours are 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. Here, you will find snacks, drinks, Wi-Fi, and comfortable seating.
VIP Lounge areas offer free Wi-Fi, snack buffets, beverage service, work desks, and comfortable seating. If you need to get some work done, the quiet work areas and power outlets provided by the lounges will come in handy.
Hotels in Tampa Airport
Inside Tampa Airport, right in the terminal, is the Tampa Airport Marriott hotel. The Tampa Airport Marriott is located inside the main terminal on Level 3. This means you can quickly walk to your hotel room with your luggage. The hotel has rooms with runway views, two restaurants, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a business center.
There are also several hotels just outside Tampa Airport. Hyatt Place Tampa Airport is approximately 1 mile from Tampa Airport. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, free Wi-Fi, and a free shuttle service. Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore is approximately 2 miles from the airport. This hotel is particularly popular with business travelers due to its proximity to the Westshore business district.
The Tampa Marriott Westshore is the airport version of the Marriott in the city. This hotel is approximately 3 miles from the airport. The AC Hotel by Marriott Tampa Airport is more of a boutique hotel. You can quickly reach all of these hotels by taking the SkyConnect train to the Rental Car Center and then taking a bus or taxi from there. In addition, most of these hotels offer a free airport shuttle service. Don’t forget to confirm the shuttle times when making your reservation.
