If you want to see wildlife up close, you should visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Brisbane is also very close to famous coastal destinations such as the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

Brisbane Airport is the hub for Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Jetstar airlines. It is the third busiest airport in Australia for domestic connections after Sydney and Melbourne. You can easily reach Brisbane Airport via the Gateway Motorway and East West Arterial Road.

There are several alternatives you can use to get to the city center from the airport. The Airtrain is the most popular means of transportation. With the Airtrain, you can reach the city center in just 20 minutes. The Airtrain departs from the airport every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes during off-peak hours.

There are also taxi stands in front of both the Domestic and International Terminals. The journey to the city center by taxi takes 20-25 minutes. Taxis operate 24 hours a day.

There are two terminals at Brisbane Airport: the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal. There is a free TBus service between the two terminals. The TBus runs every 10-20 minutes. There is a train station at both terminals.

Brisbane Airport Terminals

There are two terminals at Brisbane Airport. Separate terminals are used for domestic and international flights.

Brisbane Airport Domestic Terminal

The Domestic Terminal has two floors and is divided into three separate areas. Qantas and QantasLink are located at the north end of the terminal, Virgin Australia is at the south end, and Jetstar and other airlines are in the central area. This means that different airlines have separate check-in points. The ground floor of the terminal has baggage claim and car rental offices. The second floor has gates, restaurants, cafes, and shops. To reach the Airtrain station, you must use the Skywalk in front of the terminal.

Brisbane Airport International Terminal

The International Terminal has four levels. Each level is dedicated to different operations. Level 1 has airline offices and baggage services, Level 2 has the arrivals area, Level 3 has the departures lounge, and Level 4 has check-in counters. There are 14 gates in this terminal. The International Terminal has duty-free shops, luxury brands, gift shops, restaurants, and cafes.

Both terminals have car rental offices, free Wi-Fi, baby care rooms, places of worship, and other services and amenities.

Brisbane Airport Car Rental

If you want to travel freely on Australia’s endless roads, you can rent a car right at Brisbane Airport. There are car rental offices in both terminals. In the International Terminal, car rental offices are located on the 2nd floor. You can see the car rental offices after passing through security.
In the Domestic Terminal, car rental companies operate on the 1st floor. The companies are located near the baggage claim area.

Major companies such as Avis, Budget, Europcar, Thrifty, Hertz, Enterprise, and Alamo have offices in both terminals. A passport, driver’s license, and credit card are required when picking up your car. After picking up your car, you can easily exit the airport. By following the signs, you can connect to the main highways within a few minutes. With a car rented from Brisbane, you can reach the stunning Sunshine Coast to the north or the surfers’ paradise of Gold Coast to the south in just an hour’s drive.

I recommend making your reservation online before your trip. Car rental prices at the airport are higher. Also, during busy periods, you may not be able to find a car. If you make an online reservation, your check-in at the terminal will also be quicker. When making your reservation, don’t forget to specify your flight number and arrival terminal.

Brisbane Airport VIP Lounge

There are several VIP lounges at Brisbane Airport. There are both airline-operated lounges and paid lounges in the terminals.

Escape Lounges are located in the International Terminal, near Gate 82. This VIP Lounge is open from 06:00 to 01:00.
Plaza Premium Lounge is located in the International Terminal, next to Gate 77. It is open from 06:00 to 23:00.
Air New Zealand Lounge is located in the International Terminal, near Gate 82. This VIP lounge opens three hours before Air New Zealand flights.
The Emirates Lounge is located in the International Terminal, near Gate 75. This VIP lounge operates according to the Emirates flight schedule.
The Qantas Lounge operates in both the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal. The Qantas Lounge in the International Terminal is located after security. The lounge in the Domestic Terminal is located before security. Both Qantas Lounges are open from 5:00 a.m. to midnight.

Complimentary snacks, hot meals, and beverages are served in the VIP Lounge areas. Some lounge areas offer shower facilities and quiet areas. Ultra-fast internet access is standard.

Hotels in Brisbane International Airport

There are two hotels within Brisbane Airport. Pullman Brisbane Airport is a 5-star luxury hotel. This hotel is within walking distance of the Domestic Terminal. The hotel has 132 rooms and suites, a restaurant, bar, 24-hour reception, and room service. You can enjoy the airport view from the Executive Club Lounge & Bar on the top floor.

Novotel Brisbane Airport is located in the Skygate area. This hotel is very close to both the International and Domestic Terminals. Novotel Brisbane has 157 rooms. The free Skygate bus runs regularly from both terminals. After arriving at the DFO area via Skygate, you can reach the hotel with a short walk.

Ibis Brisbane Airport is a more economical hotel. Ibis Brisbane Airport is next to Pullman. The hotel has 243 rooms. A free shuttle service is available between 04:00 and 21:00.

There are also many hotels near the airport. Hotels such as Queensport Hotel, Novena Palms Motel, and Comfort Inn & Suites Northgate Airport are a 5-10 minute drive from the airport. Most hotels offer a free shuttle service to the airport.
