Sir Donald Sangster International Airport is located in Montego Bay. This airport is 5 km from the city center. You can reach the city center from the airport in 10-15 minutes. Sangster Airport is Jamaica’s busiest airport. It is also the third busiest airport in the Caribbean.
Montego Bay is the tourism capital of Jamaica. This city is one of the most spectacular resort towns in the Caribbean. Doctor’s Cave Beach is the city’s most iconic beach. In the 1920s, an English doctor declared the water here to be healing. The beach later became world-famous. Take a stroll along Gloucester Avenue, known as the Hip Strip. This street is lined with shops, restaurants, and beach bars. Rose Hall Great House is a historic mansion perched on a hill just east of the city. This mansion is known throughout the Caribbean for the legend of “White Witch Annie Palmer.”
Take a bamboo raft ride on the Martha Brae River. Luminous Lagoon, near Falmouth, feels like another world at night due to its bioluminescent waters that glow in the dark.
American Airlines, Delta, United, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, Air Canada, Sunwing, British Airways, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, and Avianca operate regular flights from Sangster Airport. Sangster International Airport offers flights to various destinations such as Atlanta, Miami, Toronto, Halifax, New York JFK, Charlotte, Tampa, Newark, Baltimore, and Birmingham. Approximately five million passengers use this airport each year.
Sangster International Airport has a single terminal. The terminal building has two concourses. Concourse A serves only international flights. Concourse B, on the other hand, is used for both international and domestic flights.
Knutsford Express buses depart from the bus stop located 200 meters from the terminal building. These buses operate routes to Kingston, Ocho Rios, Negril, Mandeville, and Port Antonio. Taxi stands are located just outside the terminal. The official airport taxi companies are JUTA Taxi and JCAL Taxi.

Sangster Airport has one terminal. The Arrivals area is on the right side of the terminal, and the Departures area is on the left.
After disembarking the plane and crossing the bridge, you will proceed directly to the passport control checkpoint. After passport control, you will reach the baggage claim carousels. After collecting your luggage, you proceed to the customs checkpoint. There is a currency exchange office and an ATM immediately to the left of the exit. When you turn right at the exit door, you arrive at the Ground Transportation and Arrivals Hall. Car rental counters and transfer companies are located on this floor.
After completing your check-in at the counters, you’ll go through security. Beyond security, there’s a large central food court. Beyond security, you’ll find shops, gift shops, restaurants, and cafes. Concourse A gates are on the left and Concourse B gates are on the right. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport.

Sangster Airport Car Rental
Renting a car at Sangster Airport is very easy. Car rental offices are located in the Ground Transportation and Arrivals Hall, immediately past customs. The offices are across from the baggage claim carousels. After exiting customs, turn right and you’ll see the car rental companies right away. You don’t need to go to a separate building to rent a car.
Inside the terminal, you’ll find SIXT, Avis, Dollar, Europcar, Island, Payless, Hertz, Alamo, Budget, National, and Enterprise. The SIXT counter is right at the exit of the baggage claim area. The National counter is on the right side of the customs exit, in the fifth bay. After completing your rental process, you can pick up your vehicle from the parking lot. The vehicle drop-off point is in the parking lot right next to the terminal building. Car rental companies are open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
There are plenty of places to explore by car in Montego Bay. Negril is 80 km away and Ocho Rios is 100 km away. If you plan to stay only around the resort, you can travel by taxi or shuttle. Rose Hall Great House is a 10-minute drive from the airport. The Martha Brae River is 25 minutes away, and Falmouth Luminous Lagoon is 30 minutes away.
Sangster Airport VIP Lounge
Sangster Airport has VIP Lounges in both the arrivals and departures areas: the Club Mobay Departure Lounge and the Club Mobay Arrivals Lounge.
To enter the Club Mobay Departure Lounge, pass through security, then head to the Mezzanine Level from the main departure area. Turn right and walk toward Gates 8 and 9. The lounge is directly across from Gate 12. You’ll find your way easily by following the signs. Lounge hours are from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Payment at the door is available.
The Club Mobay Arrivals Lounge is located in the terminal’s arrivals area. This lounge also offers a meet-and-greet service. Entry is also possible with Priority Pass, Lounge Key, Diners Club International, DragonPass, and American Express Platinum cards. You can make an online reservation for the lounge.
Inside the lounge, there are buffet-style snacks and beverages, a private bar, shower stalls, high-speed Wi-Fi, a business center, free phone calls to the US, Canada, and the UK, a separate children’s play area, and spa services.
