This is likely the place where the word “paradise” is mentioned most often in the world. Bora Bora is a small, volcanic island belonging to the Society Islands group of French Polynesia. Rising in the center is 727-meter-high Mount Otemanu. This rugged volcanic peak is visible from every corner of the island. You’ll see this mountain from the deck of your overwater bungalow as well as during your bike ride along the lagoon shore.

Vaitape is the island’s administrative center and most populous settlement. The pier, market, and local shops are located here. The Bora Bora Lagoon has made countless lists as one of the world’s most photogenic lagoons. Day trips by boat to nearby islands like Motu Tapu are organized.

Bora Bora Airport is located on a separate coral islet in the northwest of the main island. There is no road access to this airport. Every passenger must take a boat transfer to the main island after disembarking from the plane.
A short journey across the lagoon’s turquoise waters takes you to the center.

Air Tahiti transports passengers directly to the Vaitape pier via a free boat service. Air Moana also offers a free boat service to its passengers. Luxury hotels, meanwhile, transport guests to the hotel using their own branded private boats.

Only domestic flights operate from Bora Bora Airport. International flights do not land directly in Bora Bora.

Connections to Bora Bora Airport are made via Faa’a International Airport in Tahiti. Air Tahiti and Air Moana operate flights to Bora Bora Airport. Air Tahiti operates flights from Bora Bora to Huahine, Raiatea, Maupiti, and other French Polynesian islands.
