Logan Airport is the largest airport in both Massachusetts and the New England region. Approximately 43 million passengers use this airport each year. American Airlines and United Airlines operate flights from this airport to most parts of the world.

Logan International Airport is an international airport located in East Boston, in the east of Massachusetts. One of Logan Airport’s biggest advantages is its location. Logan Airport is only 3 miles from the city center. Logan Airport is one of the most central airports in America.

Logan Airport is only 10-15 minutes away from the city center by car. You can reach the city center in 20-25 minutes by Silver Line bus and in about 30 minutes by Blue Line subway with a transfer. The MBTA Silver Line bus offers free service from the airport to South Station. You can use the airport bus to connect to the MBTA Blue Line subway. This line takes you to central locations such as Bowdoin and Government Center.

There are taxi stands in front of the terminal. Taxis operate here 24 hours a day. Ride-hailing apps such as Lyft and Uber have customer pick-up points in front of the terminal. There is more than one terminal at the airport. There are both walkways and a free shuttle to transfer between terminals.

Logan Airport Terminal

There are four terminals at Logan Airport: Terminal A, Terminal B, Terminal C, and Terminal E. There are a total of 107 gates in the terminals. There is a free shuttle between all terminals. The shuttle runs every 5 minutes. Terminals A, B, and E are connected by moving walkways before security.

Terminal A is the main hub for Delta Air Lines. The terminal has a main building and a satellite building. The two buildings are connected by an underground walkway. The main building has gates A1-A11, while the satellite building has gates A12-A21. The second floor of the terminal has Delta’s check-in counters and two security checkpoints. WestJet also uses this terminal for some of its flights.

Terminal B is the busiest and largest terminal at the airport. American Airlines and United Airlines operate from this terminal. Terminal B has a U-shaped structure consisting of two wings, north and south. The north wing houses airlines such as Alaska Airlines, Southwest, and Spirit. The south wing is reserved for American Airlines and United Airlines flights. This terminal has a wide variety of shops. Terminal B and Terminal C are also connected by a walkway after security.

Terminal C is JetBlue’s home base. Aer Lingus and Cape Air also use this terminal for their flights. Terminal C is connected to Terminal B and Terminal E. Security checkpoints are located just behind the ticket counters.

Terminal E is used for international flights. All international arrivals are made at this terminal. Passport control and customs are located in this terminal. Leading airlines such as British Airways, Lufthansa, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Virgin Atlantic operate their flights from Terminal E. The third floor has check-in, passport control, and security check areas.

Logan Airport Car Rental

If you want to explore Boston and its surroundings, especially the famous villages of the New England region, you can rent a car from Logan Airport. Places you can visit by car include the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, Fenway Park, the Cape Cod coast, Salem, and Cambridge. After picking up your car at the airport, you can reach the historic town of Salem in about a 30-minute drive. You can turn south and embark on an unforgettable journey to the enchanting Cape Cod coast.

Car rental companies at Logan Airport operate outside the terminals. All car rental companies are located in the Rental Car Center. Airport shuttles run regularly from the lower level of the terminals to the car rental center. Simply board the blue Route 22, 33, or 55 airport service buses from the Ground Transportation area. Shuttles run every 5-6 minutes.

Enterprise, Hertz, Budget, National, Alamo, Avis, Payless, Sixt, Thrifty, Zipcar, and Dollar are available at Logan Airport. The minimum rental age is 21 at most companies. Some companies charge an additional fee for drivers under the age of 25. I strongly recommend making your reservation online in advance. Boston is particularly crowded during the summer and fall. When picking up your car, be sure to carefully read the insurance and fuel policies.

Logan Airport VIP Lounge

Logan Airport has a wide range of VIP Lounge options. There is a VIP Lounge in each terminal.

There are two Delta Sky Clubs in Terminal A. One of these VIP Lounges is located in the main building and the other is in the satellite building. Delta Sky Clubs offer a food buffet, open bar, free Wi-Fi, and flight assistance. They are open from 4:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Terminal B has three VIP Lounges. The American Airlines Admirals Club is located on the upper level of Gate B4, the United Club is near Gate B24, and the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club is located between Gates B39-B40. The American Airlines Admirals Lounge is open from 4:00 AM to 8:30 PM. The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club is open from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The United Lounge is open from 4:30 AM to 8:45 PM. The Chase Sapphire Lounge offers seasonal menus, specialty cocktails, and dedicated work areas for its guests.

There is one VIP Lounge in Terminal C. The Lounge is located near Gate C19. It is open from 06:00 to 21:00. The lounge area offers alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, a hot and cold snack buffet, charging stations, and Wi-Fi.

Terminal E is a true lounge paradise. The British Airways Galleries Lounge is located opposite Gate E11 and operates according to flight schedules. The Emirates Lounge is opposite Gate E11 and is open daily from 6:15 AM to 10:15 PM. The Lufthansa Lounge and Air France Lounge are located between Gates E3-E4. The Delta Sky Lounge is near E13.

VIP Lounge areas offer free Wi-Fi, snacks, drinks, and comfortable seating areas. Some lounges have showers, meeting rooms, and quieter relaxation areas.

Hotels in Logan Airport

If you have an early flight the next day and don’t want to travel from the city center to the airport, you can stay at hotels within the airport.

There are two hotels connected to the terminals at Logan Airport. The Hilton Boston Logan Airport and Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor are connected to the terminals.

The Hilton Boston Logan Airport is located right in the heart of Logan Airport. You can walk to the airport terminals via a covered sky bridge that connects directly to the hotel. From the room windows, you can partially see the runways and the Boston skyline. The hotel’s 24-hour complimentary shuttle service also provides service to locations such as the MBTA Blue Line subway station and the water taxi pier. The hotel has a fitness center and an indoor pool.

Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor is located on the waterfront. The hotel also has a business center and gym suitable for business travelers. You can reach the terminals and the Blue Line subway via the complimentary shuttle.

If your budget does not allow for these two hotels, you can stay at hotels such as Hilton Garden Inn or Embassy Suites, located on the Airport Shuttle route just outside the airport. Most of these hotels offer a 24-hour free shuttle service.
