General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport (IATA: PIA) is located in the center of Illinois, approximately 6 miles (10 km) west of downtown Peoria.

The airport is named after a distinguished U.S. Army general who was born in Peoria. Approximately 700,000 passengers use this airport annually. It is the preferred airport for reaching Peoria and surrounding communities, which are home to global companies such as Caterpillar.

Peoria International Airport – terminal and gate map
Peoria International Airport has one terminal building. The terminal was renovated in 2011. There are 14 gates accessible after security check. Moving from one point to another within the terminal is extremely easy. The terminal features check-in counters, a central TSA security checkpoint, baggage claim area, restaurant, café, and a gift shop. Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the airport for passengers.
Parking Areas
General parking areas at Peoria Airport are free of charge. The main lot located north of the terminal and the Satellite lot west of the terminal are free of charge. You can park your vehicle in these parking areas for as long as you wish. For short visits of less than two hours, you can use the metered parking area in front of the terminal. There is also a paid parking area at the west entrance of the terminal. This area is only available to passengers with lounge access.
All parking lots have designated parking spaces for people with disabilities.

Car rental companies have counters at Peoria International Airport, located directly opposite the baggage claim area inside the terminal building. You can easily rent a car after landing. Avis, Budget, Enterprise, and National provide services here. You can pick up your rental car from the parking areas just outside the terminal building. The offices operate according to the airport’s flight schedule.

CityLink Buses: CityLink, a public transportation company serving the Peoria area, operates bus route 7 between the airport and downtown Peoria and other important locations. The bus stop is right in front of the PIA Terminal. The average travel time is 29 minutes.
Taxis: Taxi stands are located in front of the terminal building. Taxis operate according to flight schedules.
Shared Rides (Uber/Lyft): Ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft are available at Peoria Airport. Passengers can request a ride through the apps and board their vehicles at designated pickup points.

Junction City Restaurant and Bar (Pre-Security): This restaurant is located in the main lobby of the terminal. It serves hot meals, sandwiches, salads, and beverages.
There is another branch of the same restaurant in the post-security area.

There are small gift shops and vending machines at several points in the terminal, selling souvenirs and basic necessities. Local products, electronic accessories, and snacks are available for purchase.
