Colorado Springs Municipal Airport (IATA: COS) is located at the foot of the majestic Rocky Mountains, approximately 6 miles (10 km) southeast of Colorado Springs, known as the “Olympic City USA.”

The airport is located on a plateau with breathtaking views of the legendary Pikes Peak. This airport serves as a gateway to the region’s world-renowned natural beauty, the United States Air Force Academy, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, and countless outdoor adventures. Operated by the City of Colorado Springs, COS serves over two million passengers annually. The airport features three runways, one of which is ultra-long, and a single, modern terminal building.

Colorado Springs Airport – terminal 1 & 2 map

There is one terminal at Colorado Springs Airport. Built in the mid-1990s and continuously updated since then, the terminal features spacious, light-filled interiors and local artwork that reflects the spirit of Colorado.

The terminal offers free Wi-Fi access, screens displaying up-to-date flight information, comfortable waiting areas, a nursing room, and designated pet relief areas outside the terminal. Additionally, there is a small play area for children and a central dining and shopping area called “The Springs Marketplace” within the terminal. The terminal has 12 boarding gates.

The lower level of the terminal is reserved for arrivals. Departures are handled on the upper level. Check-in counters and self-service kiosks are located at the entrance to the second floor. Immediately after that is the TSA security checkpoint. After the security checkpoint are the boarding gates, food and beverage outlets, and shopping areas. The baggage claim area for arriving passengers is located near the exit.

Parking Areas

Parking is available at Colorado Springs Airport.

Short-Term Parking: This is the closest parking area to the terminal building. This parking lot is ideal for dropping off or picking up passengers. The first 30 minutes are free. After that, hourly rates apply. Fees: 31-60 min: $3, each additional hour: $3, daily maximum $18.

Long-Term Parking: This parking lot is located within walking distance of the terminal. Fees: $1 per hour, daily maximum $10.

All parking areas have spaces reserved for disabled individuals and are located closest to the terminal entrances. Payments can be made at the automatic payment machines at the parking lot exits or at the staffed booths with credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) and cash.

Car Rental at the airport

Car rental companies have counters inside the terminal building, right next to the baggage claim area. Leading car rental companies such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National are available here. You can easily pick up your rental car from the dedicated parking area just outside the terminal. Companies generally operate seven days a week, covering peak flight times.

Find transportation from the airport – express bus, taxi ,shuttles

Express Bus (Route 37): Operated by Mountain Metro Transit. Route 37 departs from Hancock Plaza and stops at Colorado Springs Airport. This is an express route.

Taxi and Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): Taxis are available outside the terminal building, near the arrivals exit.

Ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft also have designated pickup and drop-off locations at the airport. Shuttle Services: Private transfer companies such as Colorado Springs Shuttle and Groome Transportation (formerly Colorado Springs Airport Shuttle) offer round-trip shuttle service from the airport to the city center, hotels, and other nearby areas (including Denver). Be sure to make a reservation.

Lost & Found

If you have left an item in the general area of the airport (terminal, parking lot, etc.), you should contact the Colorado Springs Airport Police Department’s Lost and Found department. The office is located near the baggage claim area. You can call (719) 550-1987 for more information.

ATM at Colorado Springs Airport

ATMs are located in both the pre-security (near the check-in area) and post-security (boarding gate area) areas of the terminal building. On the first floor, there is an ATM area to the right of the main escalators, opposite the elevator. On the second floor, there are ATMs between gates 5-7.

Smoking Areas

Smoking (including electronic cigarettes) is strictly prohibited inside the Colorado Springs Airport terminal building and all secure areas. Passengers who wish to smoke may use designated smoking areas located outside the terminal building, at least 25 feet (approximately 7.6 meters) away from the main entrance and exit doors.

There are various dining options in the terminal building, both before and after security.
Bristol Brewing Co. (Post-Security): The airport branch of Colorado Springs’ beloved local brewery. Offers local beers, pub-style food, and a relaxed atmosphere.
The Great American Bagel (Pre- and Post-Security): An ideal stop for fresh bagels, sandwiches, coffee, and snacks.
Novo Coffee (Post-Security): A café offering a selection of quality coffees and pastries.
Pikes Perk (Pre-Security): A café where you can find coffee, tea, and quick snacks.

Shopping at Airport

The airport has shops where you can purchase travel essentials and Colorado-themed souvenirs.

The Springs Marketplace (Post-Security): A store selling newspapers, magazines, books, snacks, beverages, travel supplies, and Colorado-themed souvenirs.
Pikes Peak Provisions (Post-Security): Local handicrafts, gourmet foods, and special Pikes Peak-themed products are sold here.
The Atrium: A store selling Happy Socks, Sunglass Hut, Brookstone, LEGO, Build-A-Bear, and local handmade products.

There are many comfortable hotels located very close to the airport, many of which offer free airport shuttle service.
Radisson Hotel Colorado Springs Airport: Located approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) from the airport. Offers free airport shuttle service.

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Colorado Springs South: Located approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the airport. Free breakfast and airport service are available.

Hilton Garden Inn Colorado Springs Airport: Located approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) from the airport. Offers airport shuttle service.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Colorado Springs Airport: Located approximately 1.2 miles (1.9 km) from the airport.
