Juneau International Airport (JNU) is located approximately 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Juneau, the capital of Alaska. Juneau Airport covers an area of approximately 678 acres. The airport has one paved main runway and one gravel runway. There is also one water runway used by seaplanes.

The terminal building has a total of six gates serving major carriers such as Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines, as well as regional and charter carriers such as Alaska Seaplanes and Ward Air. Juneau Airport offers direct flights to cities such as Seattle, Anchorage, Sitka, Ketchikan, and many small airports in Southeast Alaska. The airport is a vital transportation and cargo hub, especially for Juneau, which has no road connections. The terminal features impressive artwork reflecting the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures of the region.

Juneau Airport has a single passenger terminal. All passenger operations are conducted in this two-story building. The first (ground) floor houses check-in counters, baggage claim, car rental offices, and arrivals passenger services.
The second floor has security checkpoints, six boarding gates, waiting lounges, food and beverage outlets, and shopping areas. Departing passengers are directed to their flights from this floor. Free Wi-Fi, digital flight information screens, and seating areas are available throughout the terminal.
Car Rental at the airport
Car rental offices at Juneau Airport are located on the ground floor of the terminal building, directly opposite the baggage claim area. The counters of major car rental companies such as Avis, Budget, and Alamo/National/Enterprise are located next to each other here.
After completing your rental process at these offices, you can pick up your vehicles from the private parking area within walking distance of the terminal building. The offices are open 7 days a week. Car rental companies generally operate from the first flight to the last flight. Due to the region’s climate, four-wheel drive (4WD/AWD) vehicles and winter tires may be required, especially during the winter months.
Find transportation from the airport – bus, taxi rental cars
Bus: Capital Transit, Juneau’s public transportation system, serves the airport. Route 3 (Mendenhall Valley/Downtown Express) and Route 4 (Mendenhall Valley/University Connector) buses depart from the designated stop outside the terminal building and run to the city center, Mendenhall Valley, and other important locations. Buses generally run at regular intervals on weekdays and Saturdays. Bus service may be limited on Sundays. A one-way ticket costs $2.00, and a day pass costs $4.00. Taxi & Rideshare: Taxi stands are located at the arrivals exit of the terminal building. Local taxi companies such as Juneau Taxi & Tours and EverGreen Taxi provide service here. Taxis are generally available 24 hours a day, depending on flight times.
In addition, ride-sharing apps such as Uber and Lyft operate in Juneau. Follow the directions in the terminal for designated pickup locations.
Lost & Found
Lost Items at the Airport: If you lose your belongings in the terminal building or in general areas of the airport, such as the parking lot, you should contact JNU Airport Authority. There are ATMs belonging to various banks in the terminal building, both before and after security control. These ATMs are available 24/7.
Smoking Areas
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all enclosed areas of the terminal building, including electronic cigarettes. Passengers who wish to smoke must exit the terminal building and use the designated outdoor smoking areas located a certain distance from the arrivals (lower level) and departures (upper level) exits. These areas are clearly marked and easy to find.
Restaurants at Juneau Airport
There are dining options on the second floor of the terminal building, after security check.
Hummingbird Hollow Restaurant: The restaurant opens early in the morning and stays open until the last flight of the night. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. In addition to local specialties, sandwiches, salads, and hot meals are also served.
Tailwind Bar & Grill: Local and national beers, wines, and other beverages are served, along with light snacks.
In the pre-security area, there is a small buffet selling coffee, sandwiches, and packaged food. Vending machines are also available at various locations throughout the terminal.
Shopping at Airport
After security, there are gift shops on the second floor near the doors. Forget-Me-Knot Gifts: Alaska-themed souvenirs, products inspired by Tlingit art, books, clothing, and local handicrafts are sold here. Open according to flight schedules.
Newsstand/Convenience Store: This store sells newspapers, magazines, books, snacks, beverages, and basic travel supplies.

There are various hotels located near Juneau Airport, many of which offer free airport shuttle service.
Aspen Suites Hotel Juneau: Approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) from the airport. Free airport shuttle service is available. Rooms feature a kitchenette.
Best Western Grandma’s Feather Bed: Approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the airport. Buffet breakfast is included. Free airport shuttle service is available.
Travelodge by Wyndham Juneau: Approximately 0.5 miles (0.8 km) from the airport.
Juneau Airport Travelodge Hotel: A hotel located very close to the airport. Juneau Airport Travelodge Hotel is 0.7 miles (1.1 km) from the airport.
Parking Areas
Short-term and long-term parking areas are located directly in front of the terminal building at Juneau Airport. You can park your car for free for the first 30 minutes in the short-term parking area. After that, there is a charge of $3 per hour, with a maximum daily charge of $18. The first 30 minutes are also free in the long-term parking area. After that, there is a charge of $2 per hour, with a maximum daily charge of $15.
The weekly fee is $90.
Both parking areas have disabled parking spaces. The car parks operate on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that reservations cannot be made for parking spaces. You can pay your parking fee by credit card or cash at the car park exit.

Juneau Airport is an important transportation hub in Southeast Alaska. The busiest and most regular direct flights from the airport are to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington State and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city.
These two main routes connect passengers to other states in the US and international destinations. Within Southeast Alaska, there are regular flights from Juneau to Sitka, Ketchikan, Petersburg, Wrangell, Yakutat, and Gustavus, the main access point to Glacier Bay National Park.
Additionally, smaller regional carriers offer flights to Haines, Skagway, Hoonah, Kake, and many other small communities in the region.
Alaska Airlines: The airport’s main and largest carrier. It operates regular flights throughout the year to many important destinations, including Seattle, Anchorage, Sitka, Ketchikan, Petersburg, Wrangell, Yakutat, and Gustavus.
Delta Air Lines: Typically operates more flights during the summer tourist season. Offers daily direct flights to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Alaska Seaplanes: Operates scheduled and charter flights to many small and isolated communities in Southeast Alaska (Haines, Skagway, Hoonah, Kake, Pelican, Tenakee Springs, Angoon, etc.) using both wheeled and amphibious aircraft.
