Long Beach Airport (LGB) is a regional airport serving the city of Long Beach, California, and is one of the major airports in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. It is distinguished from other airports by its historic Art Deco terminal building and modern, open-air passenger concourse.

The airport is located approximately 3 miles northeast of downtown Long Beach. You can reach the airport from the Lakewood Boulevard or Cherry Avenue exits on I-405 (San Diego Freeway). There is only one terminal at the airport. This terminal is used for flights to destinations within the United States.

The airport has a unique structure that combines historical and modern architecture. The main terminal building is an Art Deco masterpiece dating back to 1941. Check-in counters and security checkpoints are located in this building. After passing through security, passengers reach a modern and largely open-air concourse. This concourse is divided into two sections: North and South.

North Concourse: Southwest Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines use this section. The North Concourse has boarding gates 1-4. This area offers various dining options, shopping outlets, and outdoor seating areas.
South Concourse: Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines use this section. The South Concourse has boarding gates numbered 5-11. This section also has dining options, shops, and spacious waiting areas.
Both concourses are connected to each other in the post-security area. The baggage claim area is located on the ground floor of the main historic terminal building, near the check-in counters.

Parking Areas

Long Beach Airport has both open and covered parking areas.

Lot A: The closest, covered, multi-level parking area to the terminal building. It is suitable for both short-term and long-term parking. Fee: 2 USD for the first 20 minutes, 2 USD for each additional 20 minutes, with a daily maximum of 25 USD.

Lot B: This is an open parking area within walking distance of the terminal building. Fee: 2 USD for the first 20 minutes, 2 USD for each additional 20 minutes, with a daily maximum of 20 USD.

Valet Parking: Valet parking is also available at the airport. You can hand your car over to the valet at the terminal entrance. Fee: $35 per day.

Cell Phone Waiting Lot: If you are picking someone up at the airport, you can wait in the free passenger pick-up areas. You can wait here for up to 60 minutes. You must remain in your vehicle.

Electric vehicle charging stations are available in Parking Lots A and B. Payments can be made by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, Discover) or cash.

Car Rental at the airport

All car rental companies at Long Beach Airport have counters and vehicles in the Car Rental Center, located on the ground floor of Lot A, directly opposite the terminal building. You can walk here from the terminal. Major companies such as Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty operate at the car rental center. Offices generally operate according to airline flight schedules. After renting your car at this center, you can pick up your car from the parking lot of the same building.

Find transportation from the airport – Transit, metro, rideshare

Long Beach Transit: Some Long Beach Transit bus routes stop at the airport. Routes 102, 104, and 111 depart from Lot A. Bus stops are located in front of the terminal building.

Metro Rail Connection: You can transfer to the Metro A Line (formerly Blue Line) from Wardlow Station or Willow Street Station using Long Beach Transit buses. This allows you to quickly reach downtown Los Angeles and other areas.

Rideshare: Services such as Uber and Lyft are widely available at LGB. Pickup points are located at the terminal exit in designated areas.

Taxis: Taxi stands are located in front of the terminal building.

Lost & Found

If you lose your belongings in the airport terminals or parking lots, you should contact the Long Beach Airport Lost and Found office. The office is located in the main terminal building, near the security checkpoint. You can call (562) 570-2648. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

ATM at Long Beach Airport

There are ATMs belonging to various banks in the terminal building. These ATMs are available 24/7.

Smoking Areas

Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is strictly prohibited in all enclosed areas of the terminal building. Passengers who wish to smoke must exit the terminal building and use the designated outdoor smoking areas located a certain distance from the arrivals (lower level) and departures (upper level) exits. These areas are clearly marked and easy to find.

There are many food and beverage outlets in the post-security passenger lounge area at Long Beach Airport.

Boathouse on the Bay: Seafood and American cuisine (smaller branch).
Sweet Jill’s Bakery: Local baked goods, cakes, cookies.
Polly’s Coffee: Local coffee chain, coffee and snacks.
4th Street Vine Wine & Beer Bar: Wine and craft beers.
Taco Beach Cantina: Mexican cuisine, tacos.
Little Brass Cafe: Light meals, sandwiches.

Pre-Security Areas: There are a limited number of coffee and snack spots in the main terminal building.

There are various shops in the post-security passenger waiting area at Long Beach Airport.

Hotels at Long Beach Airport

Long Beach Marriott: Located 0.5 miles from the airport. Offers free airport shuttle service to guests. The hotel has a restaurant and an outdoor pool.
Courtyard by Marriott Long Beach Airport: Located 0.8 miles from the airport. Offers free airport shuttle service.

Hampton Inn Long Beach Airport: Approximately 0.5 miles from the airport. Free airport shuttle service and free breakfast are available.
Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport Hotel and Conference Center: Approximately 1 mile from the airport. Free airport shuttle service is available.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Long Beach Airport: Located approximately 0.5 miles from the airport. Guests are greeted with a free airport shuttle. Family rooms are available. Breakfast is included in the price.

Long Beach Airport Flights and Airlines

Long Beach Airport is an important hub for Southwest Airlines. Delta Air Lines and Hawaiian Airlines also have regular flights from the airport.

Flights from the airport are mainly to cities on the West Coast of the US and Hawaii. There are direct flights to popular destinations such as Oakland, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Honolulu. The airport offers a comfortable travel experience for passengers due to its compact structure and lower traffic. All flights are domestic.
