San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (IATA: SBP) is located in California’s charming Central Coast region. The airport is 3.5 miles south of the city of San Luis Obispo.
This charming and modern airport offers easy access to world-renowned wineries, the stunning Pacific coastline, Hearst Castle, and California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly). The airport is operated by San Luis Obispo County and serves nearly one million passengers annually. There is one terminal at the airport.

San Luis Obispo Airport – terminal 1 &gates
SBP has a new and modern terminal building that opened in 2017 and has attracted attention with its award-winning design. This spacious 56,000-square-foot structure reflects the natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle of the Central Coast. The terminal offers a comfortable atmosphere with high ceilings, large windows that let in plenty of natural light, and local artwork.
The terminal features free high-speed Wi-Fi, flight information displays (FIDS), comfortable waiting chairs, charging stations, water filling stations, a nursing room, and a “Pet Relief Area” for pets. The terminal has two concourses (Concourse A and B). Concourse A has four gates, and Concourse B has three gates. The terminal has a total of seven gates, two full-glass jet bridges, and three hardstands.
On the ground floor, there are two baggage claim carousels, live flight information screens, car rental company offices, and taxi and rideshare (Uber/Lyft) stops. Arrivals passengers complete their procedures on this floor.
The upper level features check-in counters, TSA security checkpoints, gates, food and beverage outlets, and shops. Departing passengers are directed to their flights from this level.
Passenger Comfort: Free high-speed Wi-Fi, flight information displays (FIDS), comfortable waiting chairs, charging stations, water filling stations, one “Nursing Room” (Baby Care Room), and a “Pet Relief Area” (Pet Toilet Area) for pets are available.
Parking Areas
There are four separate parking lots around the terminal, all with fixed rates. Fee: $20 per day.
Short-Term Parking (Lots 3 & 4): This parking area is located directly in front of the terminal building. It is ideal for dropping off or picking up passengers. The first 15 minutes are free.
Long-Term Parking (Lot 2): Located right next to the old terminal. It is 150 meters away from the terminal.
Economy Parking (Lot 1): Located 300 meters away from the terminal. Suitable for long-term parking.
A single fixed daily rate applies to all parking areas. No reservation is required. Luggage carts are free in all lots. All parking areas have disabled parking spaces. These spaces are located in the sections closest to the terminal entrance. Payments can be made by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) or cash at the kiosks at the parking lot exits.
Car Rental at the airport
Four major car rental companies are located in the area immediately in front of the terminal baggage claim hall. Counters for leading car rental companies such as Avis, Budget, Enterprise, and Hertz are located here. After completing the rental process, you can pick up your vehicle from the private parking area adjacent to the terminal building. Companies are generally open seven days a week. Offices are open according to all scheduled flight times.
Find transportation from the airport – SLO transit, taxis
Bus (SLO Transit): Bus route 1A stops at the airport. Route 1A departs from Downtown Transit Center every hour.
Buses run from 6:15 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:15 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekends. There are a total of 31 stops on this route, including important stops such as Dignity Health French Hospital Medical Center, Airport, Tank Farm, Broad Street, and Johnson Avenue.
Taxis and Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): Taxis are available at designated areas outside the terminal. Ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft also have designated pick-up and drop-off locations at the airport.

ATM at San Luis Obispo Airport
There are ATMs in both the pre-security (near the check-in area) and post-security (boarding gate area) areas of the terminal building. These ATMs are available 24/7 for passengers.
Smoking Areas
Smoking (including electronic cigarettes) is strictly prohibited inside the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport terminal building and in secure areas. Passengers who wish to smoke may do so outside the terminal building, at least 20 feet (approximately 6 meters) away from the entrance and exit doors.

There are food and beverage outlets in the terminal building, both before and after security, where you can find local flavors and quick snacks.
SLO CAL Eatery & Marketplace (Post-Security): Serves local wines, beers, gourmet sandwiches, and salads. Seating and grab-and-go options are available.
Hudson News (Pre-Security): Sells snacks, drinks, sandwiches, and travel supplies.

There are shops where you can find travel essentials and local souvenirs.
SLO CAL Eatery & Marketplace (Post-Security): In addition to food and beverage options, local artwork, Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo-themed merchandise, books, wines, and other gifts are available.
Hudson News (Pre-Security and Post-Security): Newspapers, magazines, books, electronic accessories, snacks, and basic travel items are available.

La Cuesta Inn: Located approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) from the airport. The hotel is located near the city center.
Courtyard by Marriott San Luis Obispo: Located approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) from the airport.
