Innsbruck Airport Map

The moment you set foot in Innsbruck, you find yourself right in the heart of the mountains. This city, the capital of Austria’s Tyrol region, looks like it’s straight out of a postcard. The colorful houses lining the banks of the Inn River, with the Nordkette mountain range rising behind them, left a deep impression on me. The Goldenes Dachl is the city’s most iconic structure. Completed in 1500, this building was covered with 2,657 gold-leafed copper tiles by Emperor Maximilian I to celebrate his marriage to Bianca Maria Sforza.

Innsbruck Airport is located in the Kranebitten district. This airport is situated deep within a valley surrounded by the Alps. The mountain ranges surrounding the airport require pilots to perform steep maneuvering procedures during takeoff and landing, demanding high technical skill. You can reach the airport by car by exiting the A12 highway at the “Innsbruck West/Flughafen” exit and following the airport signs.

There are bus and taxi stops in front of Innsbruck Airport. Bus line F operates between Innsbruck Airport and the Anichstraße and Rathausgalerien train stations. The journey between the airport and the train station takes only 18 minutes. The airport is open daily from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM. This airport is particularly busy during the winter months.

Inside the terminal, on the ground floor in the check-in area, there is an information desk open from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Since the airport is small, everything is very close together.
