Northern Cyprus is a region in the northern part of the island with its own unique rhythm. It has a different atmosphere from the south. With Turkish culture and the warmth of the Mediterranean, there is a completely different Cyprus here.

Kyrenia is the most visited city in the region. The stone-paved streets around the historic harbor, the boat-themed meze restaurants, and the majestic Kyrenia Castle right next to them have transformed the city into the cultural capital of Northern Cyprus. The Shipwreck Museum inside the castle features a trade ship dating back to the 3rd century B.C. and is one of the oldest preserved ships in the world.

Bellapais Monastery is situated approximately 5.5 kilometers east of Girne, in the Beşparmak Mountains. Built in the 13th century, the architecture of this Gothic masterpiece is truly captivating. The English writer Lawrence Durrell lived in the shadow of this monastery and chronicled his experiences there in his book.

St. Hilarion Castle is situated in the mountains just above Kyrenia. Said to have inspired Disney’s famous Snow White castle, this fortress, with its three-tiered structure, is among the most distinctive architectural structures of the Middle Ages. From the summit, you can see both the north and south of Cyprus.

Gazimağusa is a port city located on the eastern part of the island. This city has left a legacy spanning from ancient times to Venetian walls, and from Ottoman mosques to Shakespeare. Othello Castle is the fortress that inspired Shakespeare’s famous tragedy.

The ancient city of Salamis is north of Gazimağusa. Dating back to the 11th century B.C., this ancient city takes you on a journey through time. The Karpaz Peninsula is the northernmost tip of the island. With its untouched sand dunes and Caretta Caretta beaches, this is the purest corner of Northern Cyprus. The Apostolos Andreas Monastery is situated at the very tip of the peninsula. Nicosia, located in the center of the island, is the capital where North and South intertwine.
