Larnaca International Airport is located in the city of Larnaca, in southern Cyprus. The airport is approximately 6 kilometers from the city center. The airport is connected to the city via Highway B4. This road also connects to the A3 Motorway and extends toward Ayia Napa. The island’s capital, Nicosia, is approximately 50 kilometers north of the airport. The airport’s location makes Cyprus a strategic hub between Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Larnaca is a city in southern Cyprus, situated along the shores of the deep-blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The Church of Agios Lazaros, a Byzantine masterpiece built in the 9th century that houses the tomb of Saint Lazarus, reflects the very soul of Larnaca. Just outside the city, rising from the shores of the Salt Lake, the Hala Sultan Tekke is a site of immense significance to the Islamic world. You’ll be deeply moved when you see the flocks of flamingos covering the lake in winter alongside the mosque’s white minaret.

Mackenzie Beach is a beach located slightly south of the city center and is a popular spot among locals. You can sample local dishes at the bars and restaurants lining the shore. The Kamares Aqueduct, dating back to the Ottoman period, still stands with its 33 arches. Built in 1746, this structure supplied the city’s water needs until the 1930s. Today, it has become one of Larnaca’s most photogenic spots.

Larnaca Medieval Castle is a medieval fortress situated by the sea. There is a small museum inside the castle.

Larnaca International Airport is Cyprus’s largest and busiest airport. Approximately eight million passengers use this airport each year. Flights to Larnaca International Airport are available from destinations such as the United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, Poland, and Germany.

Larnaca International Airport has a single terminal. The same terminal is used for both arrivals and departures. Taxis are the most popular choice for transportation from the airport to the city center. You can reach the city center by taxi in 10-15 minutes. You can board a taxi from the taxi stands in front of the terminal. CyprusBus Route 440 operates between the airport and Dimitras Bus Station in the city center. The bus stop at the airport is located at the far end of the terminal, just past the baggage claim area. There is an open-air parking lot in front of the terminal at the airport.

There are also buses from the airport to Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos, Protaras, and Ayia Napa. You can reach Ayia Napa by taxi in 45 minutes.

Larnaca Airport Terminal

There is one terminal at Larnaca Airport. You can easily find your way around the terminal.

The ground floor of the terminal is reserved for arriving passengers. As soon as you disembark the plane, you go through passport control. For passengers arriving from EU countries, there are automated kiosk systems available in the terminal. You scan your passport and receive a printed receipt. Simply hand this receipt to the customs officer. This process is quite fast and smooth.

The baggage claim area is located on the ground floor. After collecting your luggage, you exit through the customs gate and proceed directly to the arrivals hall. This area features information desks, currency exchange offices, and ATMs. Car rental offices are also located on the ground floor.

The upper floor of the terminal is designated for departures. Here, the check-in counters are arranged in two long rows. The left side is reserved for charter flights, while the right side is for Aegean and other scheduled airlines. After passing through security, you’ll find duty-free shops. Cigarettes, alcohol, and cosmetics are quite affordable compared to prices in the city center. Restaurants, cafes, and bars are located in the airside area. There are lounge areas on the upper level of the terminal.

Larnaca Airport Car Rental

If you truly want to explore Cyprus, you can rent a car at Larnaca Airport. Once you set off from the airport, you can explore everything from Aphrodite’s Rock to the Troodos Mountains, and from the historic village of Lefkara to the turquoise coves.

The car rental offices at Larnaca Airport are located on the ground floor of the terminal. You’ll see these offices immediately after exiting the baggage claim area. Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt, Budget, Astra Car Rental, and Petsas operate within the terminal. You can find the car rental companies by following the “Rent a Car” signs inside the terminal.

Booking your rental car in advance saves you both time and money. Especially during the summer season, cars run out quickly. When renting a car, don’t forget to pay attention to the fuel policy. Some companies have a “fuel-to-fuel” policy.

When you rent a car from Larnaca Airport, you can explore Salt Lake, Hala Sultan Tekke, Mackenzie Beach, and the Finikoudes coastal strip.

Nicosia is approximately 47 minutes away by car, and Limassol is about 52 minutes away. You can reach Aphrodite’s Rock in about 70 minutes.

Larnaca Airport VIP Lounge

There are two VIP Lounges at Larnaca Airport.

The Skala Lounge is the airport’s newest VIP Lounge area. The Skala Lounge is located on the third floor of the terminal. Inside the lounge, there are both individual seats and spacious sofa areas. There is also a special family corner with tablet stations for children. Additionally, there is a spacious outdoor terrace. You can access the Skala Lounge with Priority Pass and DragonPass.

The Aegean Business Lounge is situated on the lounge level of the terminal, near Gates 5 and 6. It is open from 3:15 AM to 8:30 PM. This lounge primarily serves Aegean Airlines business class passengers, Star Alliance Gold members, and members of the United Club and Air Canada Maple Leaf Club. The lounge offers snacks, beverages, and computers with internet access.

The Best Western Plus Larco Hotel is located just about 200 meters from the sea. This hotel is a 10-minute drive from the airport. Once you check in, you can easily reach the city center on foot.
