The Széchenyi Baths and the Gellért Baths are the most famous. Climb up to Buda Castle. Take the funicular from Clark Ádám Square. Reach the seven neo-Romanesque towers of Fisherman’s Bastion and gaze out over Pest.

When it comes to food, you mustn’t miss out on goulash. This meat stew with a rich paprika sauce is the city’s most famous dish. You should also try töltött káposzta and rántott hús, which is the size of a schnitzel.

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is located in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. This is Hungary’s busiest airport. Approximately sixteen million passengers use this airport each year. Budapest Airport is 16 km from the city centre. You can reach the city centre from the airport in 25-30 minutes.

Budapest Airport primarily serves European destinations. There are direct flights to over 150 destinations from this airport. From Budapest Airport, there are flights to Istanbul, London, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Tel Aviv, Amsterdam, Milan, Dubai, Madrid, Paris, Birmingham, Berlin, Zurich and many other destinations.

The 100E Airport Express operates between the airport and the city centre. There is a bus stop right in front of the arrivals gates at Terminals 2A and 2B. The 100E express bus stops at Kálvin tér, Astoria and Deák Ferenc tér stations. This bus operates 24 hours a day, every day of the week. You can take the 200E bus to Kőbánya-Kispest station, the terminus of the M3 metro line. From there, you can reach the city centre quickly by metro. Take the 200E to Ferihegy railway station first. From there, take the MÁV train to Nyugati Station. The official Főtaxi stand is located just outside both terminals.

Budapest Airport Terminal

Budapest Airport has two terminals: Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B. These two terminals are connected by a five storey shared building called SkyCourt.

Terminal 2A is used for Schengen Area flights. Check-in desks are located on the arrivals level on the left. Airlines belonging to SkyTeam and Star Alliance use this terminal. Gates A1-A33 are located in this terminal. There is no passport control for Schengen flights.

Terminal 2B is used for non-Schengen flights. Check-in desks for OneWorld member airlines and Wizz Air are located in this terminal. Gates B1-B44 are here. The passport control area is immediately behind the security checkpoint.

SkyCourt is a large five-storey shopping and service area situated between Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B. The central security checkpoint is located here. Within this area, there are fast-food restaurants, cafés, duty-free shops, a pharmacy, a currency exchange office and a VIP Lounge. Finding your way around the terminal is quite easy. Signs are in both English and Hungarian. The walking distance between Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B is 10–15 minutes.

Budapest Airport Car Rental

Hiring a car at Budapest Airport is very easy. Car hire offices are located in the arrivals hall of Terminal 2B. After collecting your luggage and clearing customs, follow the signs. The offices of Carwiz, National, Alamo, Green Motion, U-Save, Schiller, Europcar, Sixt, Hertz, Avis and Enterprise are located inside the terminal. You can arrange your car hire online before your trip. This way, you’ll spend less time at the terminal.

Once you have hired your car, you will be given the keys. The hire cars are located in the car hire car park next to the ibis Styles Hotel, approximately 600 metres from the terminal. Most car hire companies operate between 08:00 and 22:00. A passport, driving licence and credit card are required to hire a car.

There are plenty of routes to explore by car in Budapest. Lake Balaton is 120 km from Budapest Airport. Pécs and the Tokaj wine region are 130 km away. You will need to purchase an e-vignette for toll roads in Hungary.

Budapest Airport VIP Lounge

There are several VIP lounges at Budapest Airport. The SkyCourt Lounge is the largest lounge area at this airport. This lounge is operated by Menzies Aviation. Pass through security, proceed past the duty-free shop and turn right. Then take the lift or stairs to the first floor. The SkyCourt Lounge is directly opposite you. The lounge is open from 04:30 to 21:00. Priority Pass and Lounge Club members can access this lounge area free of charge. You can pay at the entrance using cash or a credit card. Inside the lounge, there are fresh pastries and baked goods, a hot meal service between 12:00 and 15:30, a drinks service and free Wi-Fi.

The Mastercard Airport Lounge is right next to the SkyCourt Lounge. The Mastercard Airport Lounge is open daily from 05:00 to 20:00. Entry is free only for holders of Mastercard Gold, Platinum, World or World Elite cards issued in Hungary. Inside the lounge, there is a workspace and a quiet relaxation area.

For Schengen flights, a Platinum Lounge is located directly opposite Gate A12 in T2A. For non-Schengen flights, a separate Platinum Lounge is situated above Gate B7 in T2B. A Priority Pass membership is required for both lounges.
