Bratislava Castle rises above the city like a white crown. From the castle, you can admire the meandering Danube and the breathtaking views of the distant Little Carpathians. Dating back to the 14th century, Michalská brána is the city’s only surviving medieval gate. Pass through the tunnel, climb to the top and look down over the city. Hviezdoslavovo Square is home to the Slovak National Theatre, built in 1886.

St. Martin’s Cathedral hosted coronation ceremonies during the Kingdom of Hungary. The imposing UFO Observation Tower stands atop the Nový Most Bridge. Be sure to find the Cumil Statue whilst exploring the city. This bronze man peeking out from a manhole cover is one of Bratislava’s most endearing symbols.

Bratislava Airport serves as a hub for low-cost airlines such as Ryanair, Wizz Air, Pegasus Airlines, Air Cairo, Smartwings and Norwegian Airlines. There are regular and charter flights from this airport to dozens of cities across Europe. Direct flights are available from Bratislava Airport to destinations such as Antalya, Istanbul, Hurghada, Podgorica, London Stansted, London Luton, Dublin, Manchester, Málaga, Barcelona, Rome, Warsaw and Košice.

There is a bus service from Bratislava Airport to the Main Railway Station. Bus route 61 departs from the stop in front of the arrivals terminal. This route operates between the airport and Hlavná železničná stanica. The bus runs from 04:40 in the morning until 23:30 at night. It departs from the terminal approximately every 15 minutes. At night, the N61 night service operates from the airport. Those wishing to travel to the airport from the Petržalka-Prokofievova direction can use bus route 96. Taxi ranks are located just outside the terminal.

There is a direct bus service from Bratislava Airport to Vienna. This bus departs from in front of the terminal. This service operates between 08:30 and 21:35. You can purchase your Vienna ticket online.

M. R. Stefanik Airport Bratislava Airport Terminal

There is one terminal at Bratislava Airport. The old Terminal B and Terminal C are no longer in use. The new terminal was built in 2012. The Departures Hall is located on the ground floor of the terminal. There are 29 check-in counters on this floor. The Arrivals Hall is also located on the same floor. If you are arriving from a non-Schengen country, your arrivals formalities will be completed here. On the ground floor, there is an information desk, an ATM and a currency exchange bureau.

Take the escalators on the ground floor to the second floor. The security checkpoint is located here. The area beyond the security checkpoint is divided into two sections. The left side is for Schengen flights and the right side is for non-Schengen flights following passport control. This floor features shops, cafés and restaurants.

To reach the check-in counters, simply proceed straight ahead from the terminal entrance. Take the escalator to proceed to the post-security shopping area. Once you have collected your luggage, exit the Arrivals Hall and turn left to find the taxi rank and bus stops.

M. R. Stefanik Airport Bratislava Airport Car Rental

At Bratislava Airport, car rental offices are located in the Arrivals Hall. Inside the terminal, the following companies provide services: Thrifty, Hertz, Budget, Enterprise, National, Firefly, Greenmotion, Dollar, Wheego, Addcar, Carwiz, Avis, Sixt, Alamo and Payless. After disembarking from the aircraft, collect your luggage from the baggage carousel and proceed to the Arrivals Hall. You will see the car rental counters immediately opposite you.

Once you have collected your keys and vehicle documents from the counter, exit the terminal. Vehicles are handed over at the car parks immediately in front of the terminal building. The walk to the car park takes no more than 3 minutes. If you have made a reservation in advance, only a document check will be carried out at the counter. This means you can complete your car hire process in no time.

There are plenty of places to explore by car in Bratislava. The city centre is just 9 km from the airport. You can even travel to Vienna, Budapest and Prague on the same day. You can reach Vienna from Bratislava via the Austrian motorway in 50 minutes.

There is one VIP Lounge at Bratislava Airport. The Visa Pearl Lounge is located on the 2nd floor of the terminal, in the area beyond security. This lounge is available to both Schengen and non-Schengen passengers. After passing through security, turn right and enter the small corridor. The Visa Pearl Lounge is situated between the Volare bar and the fast-food snack bar. Signage within the terminal will guide you directly here. Inside, you’ll find a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, snacks and free Wi-Fi. A relaxation area is also available. Business class passengers and holders of selected loyalty cards can enter the lounge free of charge. Payment at the door is also available. The maximum stay is 2 hours. The Visa Pearl Lounge is open from 06:00 to 21:00.
