Ben Gurion International Airport is located north of the city of Lod. The airport is 15 km from Tel Aviv and 40 km from Jerusalem. This means that when you arrive at this airport, you can reach Israel’s two most important cities in a short amount of time. Ben Gurion Airport is Israel’s busiest airport. Approximately eighteen million passengers use this airport annually.

You can reach the city center from Ben Gurion Airport by train, taxi, or bus. The train station is located on the lower level of Terminal 3. There is a train departing for Tel Aviv every 30 minutes. The train ride to Tel Aviv takes approximately 12 minutes. Bus No. 445 also operates from the airport to Tel Aviv. The bus departs every hour. Bus No. 445 stops at major streets such as Dizengoff, Bograshov, HaYarkon, and Ben Yehuda. Passengers wishing to travel from the airport to Jerusalem should take the shuttle from the airport to the El Al intersection. They should get off at the El Al stop and transfer to bus number 947. Taxi stands are located just outside Terminal 3. Taxis operate 24 hours a day.

Ben Gurion Airport Terminals

Ben Gurion Airport has two terminals. Terminal 3 serves international flights, while Terminal 1 is designated for domestic and low-cost flights. A free shuttle runs between the two terminals every 15 minutes.

Terminal 3 is Israel’s main international terminal. The ground floor of the terminal is designated for arrivals. Here you’ll find cafes, shops, currency exchange offices, and ATMs. The lost and found desk is also located on this floor. The area between the arrivals and departures halls houses the offices of car rental companies. This allows you to rent a car and complete your transactions without leaving the terminal. Most check-in counters and self-service kiosks are located on this floor. Passport control and security screening take place on the upper floors.

On the west side of the terminal, there are 22 check-in counters, a new security screening system, and a baggage screening area. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout Terminal 3. In the post-security area, there are duty-free shops, souvenir stores, restaurants, and cafes.

Terminal 1 is the airport’s domestic terminal. This terminal is also used for some international low-cost flights. Airlines such as EasyJet and Vueling operate from this terminal.

Ben Gurion Airport Car Rental

Renting a car at Ben Gurion Airport is very easy. You can rent your car without leaving the terminal. If you want to explore Israel at your own pace, you can rent a car at the airport. It’s very easy to reach holy cities, natural wonders, and the shores of the Dead Sea by car.

Car rental counters are located in Terminal 3, in the area between the arrivals and departures halls. The car rental companies’ offices are on the ground floor. You can pick up your rented car from the terminal’s parking lot. The parking lot is just 200 meters from the terminal.

Car rental offices are open every day from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. You can rent your car online before your trip. Making an online reservation saves you time and helps you secure better rates. About an hour after leaving the airport in your rental car, you can reach the Dead Sea, famous for its healing waters. If you drive north, you can see the Bahá’í Gardens in Haifa.

Ben Gurion Airport VIP Lounge

There are multiple VIP Lounges in Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion Airport. Dan Lounges are operated by the Dan Hotels chain. This VIP Lounge is located in Concourses B and C of the duty-free area in Terminal 3. Dan Lounges are open 24/7. You can enter the lounge by paying a specific fee at the entrance. The maximum stay inside is two hours. There is a buffet-style meal service here. Throughout the day, salads, cheeses, breads, pastries, and soups are served. In addition to soft drinks and hot beverages, beer, red, and white wine are also served.

The King David Lounge is a VIP lounge area for El Al’s first-class and business-class passengers. This lounge is located in Concourse D of Terminal 3’s duty-free area. The lounge features a massage chair, shower, spa room, and smoking area. The Aspire Lounge is also located in the duty-free area of Terminal 3. This VIP Lounge is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week.
