LaGuardia Airport is located in the Queens borough of New York City. This airport is 9 miles from Manhattan and 17 miles from Newark. Reaching downtown Manhattan by car takes 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. LaGuardia Airport is the closest airport to the city. LaGuardia primarily serves domestic flights. There are only a few destinations to Canada from the airport. LaGuardia Airport is the third busiest airport in the New York metropolitan area. LaGuardia Airport serves approximately 33 million passengers annually. The only public transportation option connecting the airport to the city is MTA buses. There are taxi stands in front of all terminals. The M60 SBS stops at all terminals. The Q33 departs only from Terminal A. The Q70 “LaGuardia Link” SBS line stops at all terminals except Terminal A. You should take this bus if you are transferring to the subway. New York City subway lines and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) extend to the North Queens area. The Q72 and Q90 lines also operate from terminals other than Terminal A.
There is a free shuttle that circulates between all terminals within the airport. There are taxi stands in front of each terminal. Yellow taxis are operated by the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission. There are attendants directing taxis at each terminal exit. There are designated waiting areas in front of the terminals for Uber and similar ride-sharing services and private hire vehicles.
The airport has excellent road connections to major arteries such as Grand Central Parkway, Van Wyck Expressway, and Northern Boulevard. LaGuardia Airport Terminal
There are three terminals at LaGuardia Airport: Terminal A, Terminal B, and Terminal C. There is a free shuttle that runs continuously between the terminals. Each terminal serves different airlines. There are also pedestrian walkways between the terminals.
Terminal A is located in the historic Marine Air Terminal. This is the most iconic and historic part of the airport. Only Spirit Airlines uses this terminal. Terminal A has charging stations, nursing rooms, pet areas, and a tourist information center.
Terminal B is LaGuardia Airport’s main terminal. American Airlines, Air Canada, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue, Porter Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines operate flights from this terminal. Terminal B offers VIP lounge options such as the Centurion Lounge, American Airlines Admirals Club, and Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge.
Terminal C is LaGuardia Airport’s newest and most modern terminal. Only Delta Air Lines operates flights from this terminal. There are four concourses in this terminal. All concourses are interconnected. Terminal C features the Delta Sky Club, as well as modern restaurants, shopping outlets, and numerous charging stations.
Each terminal has an information desk, baggage claim, directional screens, and disabled access. Food and shopping options vary from terminal to terminal. Terminals B and C have more local brands and chain restaurants. There is a parking area in front of each terminal.
LaGuardia Airport Car Rental

The car rental center has offices for Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Sixt, and Thrifty. There is a regular shuttle service from the terminals to the car rental companies. The shuttle picks up passengers from designated areas at each terminal.
Shuttle stops are located opposite the parking lot in Terminal A, on the 1st floor and in Zone 4 in Terminal B, and in the transit center in Terminal C. The Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge is located on Level 3, near gate 59. It is open from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The United Club is located on Level 3, near gate 59. This lounge is open from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The Centurion Lounge is located on Level 4, close to the shops. It is open from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge is located on Level 3, next to gate 59. This VIP Lounge is open between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The American Airlines Admirals Club is located on Level 3, near gate 30.
In Terminal C, Delta Air Lines has two separate Delta Sky Clubs and a Sky Zone. The Sky Zone is located on Level 3, past security. The Delta Sky Club is located on Level 4, past security.
The VIP Lounge areas feature spacious seating areas, food and beverage service, fast Wi-Fi, shower facilities, and quiet work areas. Admirals Club and United Club members have complimentary access to the lounge areas. You can also use the VIP Lounge areas by paying at the door.
Hotels at LaGuardia Airport
There are no hotels connected to the terminals at LaGuardia Airport. However, there are many hotels near the airport. Most hotels near the airport offer a free shuttle service.
LaGuardia Plaza Hotel is less than half a mile from the airport. Hampton Inn New York – LaGuardia Airport is approximately 1 mile from the airport. The New York LaGuardia Airport Marriott appeals to both tourists and business travelers with its comfortable rooms and fully equipped business center.
