Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport (HVN) is located approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) southeast of downtown New Haven, on the coast of Long Island Sound. The airport is very close to New Haven, a culturally and academically rich city in the state of Connecticut.

Known for its proximity to the world-renowned Yale University, the airport provides easy access to the region’s historic charm, vibrant arts scene, and natural beauty. The airport is managed by the Tweed-New Haven Airport Authority and operated by Avports LLC. Passenger traffic at the airport has been increasing in recent years. The airport has two runways and one passenger terminal.
You can reach Tweed-New Haven Airport from I-95 (East Coast Highway) northbound Exit 50 via Townsend Avenue, or southbound Exit 51 via Frontage Road.

Tweed-New Haven Airport has a single terminal building where passengers can complete all their procedures. The terminal has been expanded and renovated in recent years. Inside the terminal, passengers can enjoy free Wi-Fi, digital screens displaying up-to-date flight information, and various waiting areas for their comfort. Outside the terminal, there are special “Pet Relief Areas” for passengers traveling with pets. The terminal’s compact layout provides easy access to check-in, security, and boarding gates. The baggage claim area for arriving passengers is located near the terminal exit. There are four gates in the terminal.
Parking Areas
There are three different parking areas at Tweed-New Haven Airport.
Lot A (Short-Term Parking): This parking area is located closest to the terminal building. The first 30 minutes are free. Fee: $5 per hour, maximum $35 per day.
Lot B: This parking area is a 3-minute walk from the terminal. The first 30 minutes are free. It is suitable for both short-term and long-term parking. Fee: $4 per hour, maximum $25 per day.
Lot C (Long-Term Parking): This parking area is preferred for longer trips. It is an 8-minute walk from the terminal. Fees: $3 per hour, maximum daily rate of $19
All parking areas have spaces reserved for disabled individuals, located closest to the terminal entrances. Parking payments can be made at the automatic payment points at the exits or at the staffed booths using major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) and cash.
Car Rental at the airport
Car rental companies have information desks right next to the baggage claim area at Tweed-New Haven Airport. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Dollar, Sixt, and Thrifty are available here. You can pick up your rental car from the parking lot just outside the terminal. The companies are open every day of the week. Working hours vary according to the airport’s flight schedule.

Bus (CTtransit): CTtransit, Connecticut’s public transportation company, operates bus services connecting the airport to New Haven city center and other important locations in the surrounding area. Bus line 206 passes through the airport and provides transportation to New Haven city center (New Haven Green, Union Station train station).
Taxi and Ride-Sharing (Uber/Lyft): Taxis are available outside the terminal building, near the arrivals exit. Ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft also provide pick-up and drop-off services at designated locations at the airport.
Shuttle Services: Some local hotels offer round-trip shuttle service to the airport for their guests. You can also make a reservation in advance through a private transfer company to quickly reach your desired destination.
